The Porsche Cayenne Coupé Electric Debuts at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show
German luxury automobile manufacturers unveil their all-electric SUV with the soul of the iconic 911
Inheriting the legendary 911 “Flyline” silhouette, this all-electric sports car is not just a revolution but a powerhouse in its own right. Porsche’s Cayenne Coupé series combines “powerful proportions with exceptional e-performance”. Inspired by their iconic classics, the designers manifested Porsche’s best aspects in SUV form, setting new benchmarks both visually and technically.
Under the direction of Porsche Style’s Head of Exterior Design, Thomas Stopka, the Cayenne Coupe Electric exudes a dynamism distinct from the modern SUV. The roofline, extending from the A-pillars, gracefully sweeps across wide shoulders, outlining a coupe-like sloping rear profile. To achieve such a streamlined profile, the designers not only reworked the model-exclusive windscreen but also reduced seams using an embedded flush-mounted rear window for an enhanced modern visual appeal. Porsche’s attention to detail translates to exceptional aerodynamics with the Cayenne achieving a low drag coefficient of 0.21 cd, which scored the SUV a WLTP driving range of 669 kilometres. A testament that style and function can perfectly coexist.
In terms of performance, the Cayenne Coupé Electric series offers three distinct variants. The standard Cayenne Coupé Electric boasts 442 PS of overboost; the advanced S version which pushes the output to 666 PS, achieving 0-100 km/h acceleration in just 3.8 seconds. As for the flagship Turbo model, which speed enthusiasts crave most, it can unleash a staggering 1,156 PS (850 kW) of power in overboost, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.5 seconds. Coupled with an 800V high-speed charging system supporting DC fast-charging up to 390 kW, replenishing power for longer journeys is a matter of moments.
Beyond its sporty exterior, this all-electric sports car doesn’t compromise on everyday practicality. Measuring nearly five meters in length and boasting a width of nearly three meters (its height is lowered by 24 mm due to its sporty disposition) the flexible two-seat configuration in the rear and a total cargo space exceeding 1,400 liters, including a 90-liter frunk, easily meet the needs of families. In terms of chassis technology, all models come standard with PASM adaptive air suspension (with Porsche Active Ride active suspension and a five-degree rear-wheel steering system available as options) ensuring agile handling on both uneven mountain roads and narrow urban streets.
Stepping inside, the Porsche Driver Experience digital cockpit exudes a futuristic style, offering a full range of electronic displays and an optional augmented reality head-up display. For owners seeking an even more racing-oriented experience, a dedicated lightweight package includes a carbon fiber roof, 22-inch wheels, and classic Pepita quilted fabric interiors, shaving off an additional 17.6kg.
Undoubtedly, the Cayenne Coupé Electric series, from its standard panoramic glass roof to its optional off-road package, has achieved a dynamic balance between luxury, intelligence, and performance, making it the pinnacle of today’s pure electric SUVs.
